Freetown, New York, is located in the southeast corner of Cortland County.

It was formed in 1818 from part of the Town of Cincinnatus, and in 1820 part of the Town of Virgil was added.

Town Clerk Hours 2pm to 5pm 


Town Board Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

Planning Board Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall.

All meetings are open to the public, and Freetown residents are encouraged to attend.


Amnesty day will be on May 16,2020 and September 12,2020 both days 10am-2pm.


Republican Caucus will be held on July 17th @ 6:30pm

Town Highway

Town Highway business hours are 6 am-4:30 pm if you need to reach the Highway Superintendent after hours for an emergency call 911.

Freetown's recycle center is open every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Accepting glass, plastic, metal, and paper. If you have questions, ask the attendant.
